FIBER ATTENUATORS

Fiber attenuators are used to control the power level of optical signals in optical communication at the output of Light Sources, E/O Converters, and also for the testing of linearity or dynamic range of Photosensors, Photodetectors, etc.  Fiber type attenuators becomes popular because it is advantageous with regard to adaptability to a receptacle structure and spliceability to a transmission fiber.  Some of the features of Attenuators are - Precise Attenuation Value - Environmental Stable and Reliable - Excellent Return Loss - Bi-Directional Non Air Gap.

BULK FIBER OPTIC CABLE

Multimode fiber optic cable:  This cable is used in most LAN applications, and has many other uses as well.  This class of cable has a number of different core diameters, the most common being 62.5/125 micron fiber.  Other sizes are available by special order.

Singlemode fiber optic cable: This is the cable of choice in "longhaul" applications, such as long distance telephone lines, long runs between buildings, or in high speed applications like "sonet" rings.  The fiber diameter is 8.5/125 microns.  See our Singlemode Page for a currently available list of bulk singlemode cable.

Fiber cables come packaged in many different styles to suit a variety of needs from direct burial underground cables and aerial cables with messenger wire to inside plenum cables, and special "mil-spec" cables for severe duty or disaster recovery.

The following categories of cable give a rough idea of the many styles of fiber available, and some of the considerations involved in choosing  the "right fiber" for your application.
